About Sesame Oil
Sesame oil is made from pressed and toasted sesame seeds. Thought to
have originated in India or Africa, the sesame seed is one of the oldest seeds known
to man and the first written record of sesame dates back to 3,000 B.C.
Though it is unclear when sesame first found its way into China, it was most likely a
source of fuel thousands of years ago before eventually becoming a food source. Sesame
seeds are a nutritional goldmine high in calcium and contain two proteins not normally
found in other vegetables.
Sesame Oil in the Kitchen & Beyond
As the flavor of sesame oil is too intense and burns quite easily,
it is not in fact used as a cooking oil. This delightfully aromatic oil is used to
flavor everything from dips to marinades, and often drizzled on dishes just before
serving. Sesame oil is believed to contain antioxidants and may be found in holistic
preparations for everything from treating infections to stimulating brain activity.
Pat Chun's Pure Roasted Sesame Oil

freshest roasted sesame seeds are cold pressed to extract the oil, retaining its strong
sesame flavor. To accent the overall taste of rice, noodles, stir-fries or salads with
a delicious nutty flavor, simply add a few dashes before serving or use in marinades.
